What is NLP?

I’ve got a whole section dedicated to this here if you want more information. NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is a rapid and highly effective methodology to influence your brain at a conscious and subconscious level in order to over-write old patterns of behavior and limiting beliefs. It creates lasting change and allows you to create a life that you love.

What is hypnotherapy?

This is not necessarily a part of every session but I will incorporate it if it will be useful to get the change that you want. I will help you into a relaxed state where your unconscious mind will be more accessible and able to process the changes you want to make. Often this is what is needed to help us to get to the root cause of the issue as the subconscious controls a lot of our thoughts and patterns of behaviour that we are completely unaware of. Change at this level is profound and long-lasting. This hypnotic state is something you will have already accessed in your life but perhaps weren’t aware of. It can be thought of as a ‘flow’ state or even happens when we are daydreaming, driving a familiar route or when you are deeply absorbed by tv or your phone and stop noticing your surroundings. This hypnotherapy is completely different to ‘stage hypnosis’ which in my opinion is unethical and a poor use of this tool. I can reassure you that you will be in complete control of your body, hear and understand what is going on around you and be able to communicate normally - you’ll just be very relaxed!

Is this similar to therapy? Will I need to dredge up old hurts or trauma?

NLP differs from traditional talk therapy or counselling - which absolutely has it’s place and can be hugely beneficial. However, NLP looks at how the present and the future can be different rather than looking exclusively at the past. The aim is to gather just enough information to be effective but focuses on what actions we can take to shift and feel better. Its whole ethos is: “we acknowledge that happened, what can we do about it to move in a direction that feels good”. NLP and hypnotherapy techniques work with the subconscious so we are often able to clear old wounds without directly re-living an experience. Unlike traditional talk therapy we often see massive change within just a few sessions so it can be an affordable and quick process spanning a few weeks, not months or years.

Will this coaching help my body as well as my mind?

Yes, the mind-body connection has been heavily researched and demonstrates a clear connection between the two. We can influence how our body functions (our physiology) by changing our neurology.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people see huge shifts after just one session, although it is issue dependent. Many people feel totally different after 3 sessions. Up to 6 sessions will most likely result in long-lasting  change. If you have multiple issues perhaps more sessions will be required but it is unlikely to be an ongoing long-term set-up. My aim, like most practitioners, is to make myself redundant as quickly as possible.

Where does the session take place?

I am currently operating a virtual clinic as it means I can reach so many more people. Sessions take place online via Zoom; a link will be sent to you once your booking is confirmed. I will occasionally do in-person sessions or group work.

How long are the sessions?

Each session is typically 55 mins. I also offer 90 minute sessions but this must be discussed and arranged together. We can usually create change within the hour block but for a couple of processes it is best to have slightly more time. If you require longer sessions to allow for processing time with brain fog, concussion etc. we can work together to find a suitable set-up for you.

Cancellations and rescheduling

You may cancel or ask to reschedule within 24 hours of your session free of charge.

If you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of the session, the fee is non-refundable. Please cancel by 3pm on a Friday for a Monday appointment. If you are running late I can wait for 10 minutes. Any longer and the session will be considered cancelled and is non-refundable. Please note that we will also be limited in what we can achieve within the shorter time-frame.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is key to our coaching relationship. All session and personal information will be kept private unless very rare criteria present themselves and I am legally obliged to disclose it to authorities. This would only occur if there is likely a risk of immediate harm to yourself or another person. You see my privacy policy here.
