Working Together
My Story
My story is like so many others of finding these tools when nothing else was working.
When I was 14 I had a gymnastics accident and badly injured my spine. I went from being super active and energetic to exhausted with chronic neck issues , severe headaches and brain fog as well as mysterious digestive issues. I was regularly having panic attacks and experiencing high anxiety. Ultimately I went undiagnosed for 4 years with one doctor shrugging off looking into any robust diagnosis and saying that this was down to teenage hormones and laziness. I was in and out of school and college and struggling daily with my health, sometimes unable to walk for weeks. I was eventually diagnosed with M.E. and told that it would likely last for years and there was no cure or treatment. I was told I would just need to learn to manage the condition. This was devastating news at the age of 18, hoping to go out into the world as my friends were doing but stuck at home and unsure of how things would unfold. I was incredibly lucky to have my parents to help look after me and was completely dependent on them.
We explored traditional and alternative medicine and would sometimes find some relief for a few days but nothing was creating long-term change. Finally, a family friend mentioned the Lightning Process by Dr Phil Parker. It completely transformed my life and resolved the M.E. I was feeling almost back to normal within just days and I made a full recovery a few weeks later. I then worked and travelled, hiked up volcanos in Indonesia, swam at the Great Barrier Reef, studied abroad during my degree in History of Art. I went on to work for 10 years in London as a project manager in tech and media roles at the BBC, Google and Universal Music.
The experience of the Lighting Process cemented a love of the mind-body connection and I have now made a career pivot to be able to immerse myself fully in this work and help other people to get back to being their true selves and live the lives that they deserve.
I am a certified NLP practitioner, clinical hypnotherapist, and coach dedicated to helping people unlock lasting change from the inside out. My approach blends science, proven techniques with deep empathy, creating a safe space for clients to gain clarity, confidence, and the agency to begin making the changes they want to make.
What does NLP stand for?
Neuro Linguistic Programming is designed to help us understand how our thoughts, language and learned patterns are all linked
How our brains and mind work. Especially about producing specific neural or brain pathways in response to our thoughts, emotions and how we perceive the world through our senses
Neuro
How the language and body language we use when talking to ourselves and others affects our neurology.
Linguistic
The brain learns patterns of behaviour as it makes sense of what we experience. These are often unconscious and can be thought of like “software” in a computer
Programming
This is about teaching you the tools to influence your own health and life through the mind-body connection. The work we will do together is a blend of techniques that will work on several, deep levels. We harness the power of neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to re-write itself and change) to set up networks and pathways in your brain that will lead to the positive changes you want to create and keep in your life.
I’ll teach you about the power of your language and how it relates to your neurology. Many techniques are designed to access the subconscious which helps to shift outdated and unhelpful neurological patterns at the root. This means that any changes you are implementing will ultimately be easier to maintain after some initial short-term practice rather than you having to white-knuckle it and will yourself to stay motivated. These changes often occur very rapidly. NLP looks at not just the content/subject matter of our thoughts and behaviours but goes further into the structure of them - how they are stored or filed in our brains. These skills you learn are for life and allow you to reorganise your feelings, thoughts and behaviours in ways that allow your mind and body to thrive.
How is this going to help me?
“You’ll never feel ready - because ready isn’t a feeling, it’s a decision.”
Maggie Breitenbach
My Approach
We don’t need a dramatic event, illness or injury to feel mired. Pressures and stresses of everyday life can weigh on all of us. With so many inputs, instability, and choices, it can be hard to figure out where to go next. You know you’re meant for more, you can feel it, but the way to get there can feel impossible. This is personal because I’ve been there.
Every session is tailored to your individual needs - we’ll figure out the best approach for you.
How you want to feel and behave is at the core of everything we will do together. I am a firm believer in focusing on what we can do to bring you into alignment with your authentic self and what you want going forward, rather than dwelling heavily on the past. We acknowledge and respect what has happened but work to put you in a position of true influence over your life by teaching you the tools to change your neural pathways and rewire your brain.
Think of it like a personal training programme for your mind that requires active participation from you in the same way that a personal trainer can teach you how to use gym equipment the most effectively. These tools will strengthen your mind in the same way you would train your muscles at the gym.
My aim is to get you change as quickly as possible and teach you the skills to become the best coach to yourself. This means that you ultimately spend less time and money than other methodologies. Mental and physical health is paramount; we so often take it for granted until something threatens it.
I am deeply passionate about this work and will bring huge compassion, energy and insight to our sessions. I am so excited to help you get what you want out of life and show up in all the ways that you know you are capable of.
